The Secret Jewel Box was initially released with three CDs in the box, with the remaining releases coming separately throughout the next couple of years. It's available almost exclusively through Steve's official website, Vai.com. The Secret Jewel Box is largely comprised of unreleased material, and music from dozens of different records (many out of print). Ciruelo painted this piece in 1998. Steve saw a series of illustrations in his first artbook, published in 1990, and liked the effect of this new marbling technique.
In that book Ciruelo explained:

"I especially like to add strange textures to the skin, like marble or stone, because in this way I am adding an aesthetic attraction to the human skin. So, often I start to work the figure on a blotted ink background. I shape the body like a sculptor, airbrushing in the shadows and depths, then with a hand brush introduce the highlights and exalting the texture of the stone.
Essentialy what I aim for is to give these figures the appearance of sculptures while remaining alive"

..The 7th Song

Enchanting Guitar Melodies
Archives Vol.1
- Nov. 2000 - Epic Records

..ARCHIVES VOL 3 AND 4
As you may notice the covers for the Archives collection feature the same image that Ciruelo painted for The 7th Song, but reproduced in different colors.

THE 7TH SONG original artwork was painted on a stone.
This is a very representative work of what Ciruelo calls
Petropictos, the art of painting on stone. This rock has only been painted although it may seem to have been sculpted.
To achieve this realistic effect, he uses an airbrush, but for certain details a paintbrush as well. In 1995, Steve phoned Ciruelo to commission him a painting. At that time, Ciruelo was developing this technique so he produced this piece which was then used for a Dean Markley strings ad.
Steve also decided to use it as a cover for several forthcoming albums, the first one was "The 7th Song", Archives Vol. 1.

A complete step by step of the process for this piece can
be found in the book
Luz the Art of Ciruelo.
