| The artwork was used to decorate the facilities and the gala venue, including several dragon sculptures in different sizes. About this collaboration Ciruelo said, “It is a true pleasure for me to create a painting for the cover of the Writers of the Future anthology. I greatly admire the dedication and talent behind the making of such a book, and I am especially pleased to support the emerging authors and illustrators featured within. In my cover painting, titled The Fire Tribe, I portray two warriors and a mighty dragon defending an island dominated by an erupting volcano. They appear to belong to a people who have lived in the presence of volcanic fire for generations, developing a deep understanding of its dangers and power. Fire is central to their world—an ever-present force that must be respected, harnessed, and endured.” |

Thomas R. Eggenberger and Allen Zhang, the winners in literature and illustration.

| 2018 - VOLUME 34 This year, the awards ceremony was held at the historic MacArthur in Los Angeles. Although Ciruelo was not present at the event, one of his paintings appeared on the cover of the anthology book Volume 34. Additionally, a text he wrote about his passion for art was included inside the book. READ IT HERE. |

Fantasy artist Larry Elmore, who is also a judge for this contest, is sitting next to Ciruelo in this picture.
One of the many advantages for the selected artists and writers in this contest is the opportunity to
attend workshops led by top professionals and artists during the week leading up to the awards ceremony.
Other judges for this contest are Frank Frazetta, Moebius, Stephan Martiniere,
Larry Elmore, Bob Eggleton, Stephen Youll, Frank Kelly Freas and more.
